An organic changing bag for your baby and you - and one for a mother and her newborn in Nepal, one of the world's poorest countries
Cam Cam Copenhagen has joined forces with the Danish-Nepalese NGO Chimalaya Charity, dedicated to fighting malnutrition and infant mortality in Nepal, and Baby Space by Amazing Space, the Danish organic baby care brand. Together we have created a beautiful changing bag, #Bag4Life, containing organic quality products to help a mother and her new born baby during the baby's first months. The #Bag4Life changing bag is the perfect start package or gift for future and new parents – supporting not only their own little loved-ones but also less fortunate families in one of the world’s poorest countries.
Bag4Life is a concept developed by Chimalaya Charity to improve conditions for newborns in Nepal. Nepal has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world caused by malnutrition and poor hygiene. Chimalaya Charity´s trained health nurses carry out home visit right after birth. The nurses provide help with breastfeeding and knowledge about health, nutrition and hygiene. During the first visit, the mother is given a Bag4Life – a locally produced changing bag containing important remedies such as a thermometer, disinfectant, soap, a changing mat, cloth nappies, clothes and toys.
Bag4Life enables mothers to support each other across borders, cultural differences and financial barriers
Every time one of our changing bags is sold, a mother in Nepal receives a Nepalese Bag4Life and a visit by a health nurse.
During the first health care visit, the mother is given a Bag4Life – a locally produced changing bag containing important remedies such as a thermometer, disinfectant, soap, a changing mat, cloth nappies, clothes and toys.
Producing the bag locally supports the local community and helps the mother and her baby during the first months in the baby´s life. In addition, the Bag4Life concept includes a home visit by a health nurse from Chimalaya Charity who helps the mother start breastfeeding and provide information about health, nutrition and hygiene. Often the women are left alone to fight for the survival of their babies. Nepal has one of the world´s highest infant mortality rates and many children are malnourished. Early intervention in the child´s life is necessary if more children are to survive and avoid physical and mental injuries.
