Food grade silicone is a non-toxic, odorless material containing no harmful chemicals such as BPA, latex, lead, and phthalates

Some people experience that when they wash silicone products in the dishwasher, their silicone products smell of soap. This is because their silicone has oil residue on its surface.

Dish soap that contains essential oils, antibacterial agents, or moisturizers are all oils that can stick to silicone and can cause a smell often described as being soap or plastic-like. That is why we recommend using an unscented cleaner.

Here are our suggestions on how to remove the soap smell on silicone:

  1. Extra rinsing wash in the dishwasher or rinse with water
  2. Bake the silicone dinnerware in the oven at 200°C with ventilation or 220°C if static oven for about 10 to 15 minutes or until the scent is gone
  3. Use a fresh lemon or lime to remove the oil residue. Cut and rub the lemon all over the silicone and let sit for approximately 10-15 minutes and then thoroughly rinse
